How your essay is scored
When you submit an essay, a primary AI model evaluates it against the four official IELTS writing criteria: Task Achievement/Response, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy. A second, independent model then cross-checks that evaluation for consistency before your report is finalized.
This dual-check step exists because a single AI model can be inconsistent essay to essay. Cross-checking against the same public band descriptors keeps scores comparable across your submissions, so progress tracking is meaningful.
How we research and write our guides
Blog guides and tool pages are written by the IELTS AI Tutor editorial team using official IELTS task types and publicly available band descriptors as the source of truth, combined with patterns we see across graded practice essays.
We do not fabricate exam questions as "leaked" content or claim insider access to real test papers. Sample essays are original practice material written to match known task formats.
Review and update cadence
Every published guide lists a publish date, and pages we substantively revise show a separate "last updated" date. We do not change the update date for typo fixes; only for meaningful content or accuracy changes.
