IELTS Task 2 Checker: Band Score & Criterion Feedback

Task 2 carries more weight than Task 1. Paste your essay (and question) to get an estimated band plus TR, CC, LR, and GRA feedback — then rewrite the weakest criterion before your next timed attempt. Your first evaluations are free.

Task Response focus

Clear position, full coverage of the question, developed ideas.

Paragraph control

Topic sentences, logical progression, purposeful linking.

Language precision

Collocations and grammar that support meaning, not rare words for show.

All common question types

Opinion, both views, advantages, problem-solution, two-part.

What the IELTS Task 2 checker evaluates

Every report breaks Task 2 into the four public criteria examiners use. That matters more than a single chatbot compliment: you can see whether you are capped by thin development, mechanical linking, forced vocabulary, or grammar control.

  • Task Response: Did you answer all parts with a clear, developed position?
  • Coherence & Cohesion: Are paragraphs focused and well linked without linker spam?
  • Lexical Resource: Is vocabulary precise and natural for the topic?
  • Grammatical Range & Accuracy: Do complex sentences stay controlled under time?

From Band 6 to Band 7 on Task 2

The jump is rarely “more advanced vocabulary.” It is usually fuller idea development, cleaner paragraph jobs, and fewer meaning-blocking errors. Your report shows which of those is your bottleneck so you stop rewriting everything at once.

Use related guides when you need teaching depth: Band 6 vs 7 patterns, essay structure, and the 6.5 plateau plan — then come back and re-check the same criterion.

How to use Task 2 checker feedback

  • Include the essay question so Task Response feedback is accurate
  • Rewrite only the lowest criterion first (one body paragraph is enough)
  • Re-submit under time (40 minutes, 250+ words) to test the fix
  • Track the same criterion across essays instead of chasing lucky overall spikes

How it works

1

Paste your Task 2 essay

Include the question for better Task Response feedback.

2

Review criterion bands

Identify the lowest score first.

3

Apply one fix card

Rewrite a weak paragraph before the next essay.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Task 2 contributes twice as much to the Writing score as Task 1, so prioritize Task 2 practice when time is limited.
